The BAKU Credit union was created by Mr. Votima Andreas after attending a cooperative meeting in Bamenda where credit union formation was among the discussed topics. Back home he discussed this idea with his quarter members. A constituent general meeting was held on the 8th of September 1963 where 16 members were present and a sum of six thousand six hundreds (6600frs) was raised with a minimum contribution of 25FCFA shares per person was fixed at 500FCFA and a registration fee of 200FCFA. The first executive committee members were formed with Mr. N.T Gwetang and Mr. Robert Tangu elected as president and vice. The name Baku Credit Union was unanimously accepted. The house of Mr. Votimia Andreas was their business office. It was during their first day in office that Mr. Stephen Doh poured libation for prosperity
